2016 - Dolly Parton Records. The one thing that I find fascinating with Dolly Parton’s albums, is that she tends to bring all the songs together with one sculptural album that contains one common denominator—simplicity. When you look at this entire album, Dolly gives us ten beautiful songs about love that range from cheating to true pure love. The entire album is quite delightful and mesmerizing in her Dolly Parton mountain wisdom. Of course there a few songs that need to be mentioned. The first we come upon is “Say Forever You’ll Be Mine.” Although this song does not talk about break-up, one can take it into consideration that it is the ultimate make up song with its sensitive melody that consists of a striking but haunted fiddle. “I’m Sixteen” is a song that really must be heard by those couples who have spent a lifetime together. Performed in a fun exuberant melody, this one relives the mentality of two experienced lovers who are not ready to give in to old age. The album closes with a symphonic elegant song called “Forever Love.” We will certainly add this one to our ever growing list of Songs Perfect For Weddings. There are three songs on this well polished and primal album that will hit our list of Top Songs of 2017, while earning a nomination each for the Spirit Award’s Song of The Year Award. These three songs include “Never Not Love You,” “Can’t Be That Wrong” and “Tomorrow Is Forever.” “Never Not Love You” is one of those feel-good songs that was written with every listener in mind. “Can’t Be That Wrong” is an emotionally rich song about cheating. What makes this song so poetic is how Ms. Parton takes titles of well known songs to create a cleverly-written ballad. Where as “Tomorrow Is Forever” is a well focused song filled with Dolly’s vast wisdom. In fact, I would go to say that this entire project is filled with Ms. Parton’s inviting wisdom as she wrote all ten songs. This album is so breathtaking and sophisticated that we have pulled the entire album and nominated it for the Spirit Award’s Album of The Year Award. To call this album Pure & Simple is straightforward as each of these songs are quite authentic and classic. Today’s music is generally cluttered with so much commercialism to gain radio air play. It is so nice to be able to rely on an entertainer like Ms. Dolly Parton to bring us back to simple living. Don’t miss this one as it would make for a great album to give to any young couple, especially those whom are about to start their lives together. $$$$$+
