2017 - Roy’s Boys LLC.  On September 30, 1987, Roy Orbison staged a huge comeback with an all-star concert.  Orbison gained the help from Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, K.D. Lang, Bonnie Raitt and Bruce Springsteen; in this live performance.  Although this box set does not fall under tribute albums, it really is a tribute.  This show was held at the Ambassador Hotel’s Cocoanut Grove night club and was made into a televised special that was broadcasted on Cinemax the following January.  Legacy Recordings states that this is not a re-issue as there were so many cameras set up to record this show.  All we have to say about this—is that this is how a tribute album and or project is done!  The most unique part about this ‘box set’ is the fact that the entire show was filmed in black and white, thus creating a timeless elegance to the legendary Roy Orbison.  This set includes an audio CD as well as a video DVD.  Both include special features such as alternate song endings and interviews.  After the show ends and the audience leaves, with the exception of a few—Roy and the band slip back on stage for five more songs.  The film keeps rolling, until the fifth song when it runs out.  Don’t worry, because the audio still records and both are included in this project.  The most heartbreaking part of this performance is that just over a year after this recording, Roy Orbison passed away.  This is truly for the fans as you can pop the cd in your vehicle to listen to while on the road and place the DVD in your player at home to listen to while you are at home.  This is a perfect example how to create a tribute to an incredible entertainer and his music!
