Turning Chaos Into Music…

By: The Staff at Strictly Country Magazine

As soon as the calendar rolled from February into March, our lives began to ride a tidal wave of uncertainty.  One can not simple go one minute without being reminded of the chaos that is our world today.  So instead of spreading more fear, uncertainty, and turmoil we have chosen to spread love, light, and hope for much better days ahead. That being said, we take this time to share with you a wide variety of songs that have graced our offices throughout our 27 years in the music industry.  Many of these songs have gone forth to earn nominations for Strictly Country’s fan voted annual Spirit Awards.  Some have even earned the title of The Best Song of the Year by the Spirit Awards.  We will do our best to feature at least one song per day and we ask that you help us spread love and light by sharing these songs with your family, friends, neighbors, and strangers.  Music is healing and right now, whether we admit it or not, we all need to heal.  We are a world of one and it is upon our selves to create a world of peace filled with love…

It is a sad day today.  Today we awoke to the news that legendary Kenny Rogers passed away.  Throughout his career entertained us with a wide variety of music.  In 2016, we honored Mr. Rogers with two Spirit Awards – Song of the Year with “You Can’t Make Old Friends” with Dolly Parton and Spirit of Christmas Award with “Some Children See Him” featuring Alison Krauss.  A year later we honored Kenny with the Spirit Award’s Living Legend of The Year.  At the official presentation, Kenny stated “Well I can’t get this when I’m dead!” and then laughed.  We honor Mr. Rogers today with his Spirit Award winning song “You Can’t Make Old Friends.”  Thank you for all of the music over the years…

The second song we pick comes from Dolly Parton and her song “Berry Pie.”  On February 26, 2008, Ms. Dolly released her album called Backwoods Barbie. The twelve cut album features an incredible array of songs; many of which earned Spirit Award nominations for Song of The Year.  Some versions of the album contained bonus songs like “Jolene” and “Two Doors Down.”  Another version of the album included this song…

We begin with Ronnie Milsap and his song “A Day In The Life Of America.”  On June 27, 2006, Ronnie released his album called My Life.  The eleven cut album features an incredible array of songs; many of which earned Spirit Award nominations for Song of The Year; including this one…
