Today Is Christmas

LeAnn Rimes

2015 - Prodigy Entertainment.  I am more mesmerized each time I listen to this album.  LeAnn Rimes proves that she still has the acquired vocal talents to bring these songs to life.  This album features twelve Christmas carols that includes a wonderful mix of classic songs that are well blended with a few new songs.  Rimes gives us a new take on some wonderful tunes including two brilliant medleys of “Holly Jolly Christmas / Frosty The Snowman” and a song she calls “Joy” which includes “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” and “Hark The Herald Angels Sing.” She gains the help from Aloe Blacc as he takes the lead on an old Ray Charles tune “That Spirit of Christmas.”  Rimes digs back into the classic tunes as she brings forth her version of the 1966 song “We Need A Little Christmas.”  Also included in this awesome album is her version of the 1960 Mitch Miller song “Must Be Santa,” that was written by Hal Moore and Bill Fredericks.  Rimes does a remarkable performance in giving this classic carol new life as it reminds us all of childhood days gone by.  Rimes also includes a cover version of “Celebrate Me Home,” which was written by Bob James and Kenny Loggins and was recorded by Loggins in 1976.  Rimes gains the help from Gavin DeGraw in this new cover.  The album is not just filled with covers of classic songs, in fact Rimes includes two new songs that she co-wrote.  The album opens with the cover song that LeAnn wrote with Darrell Brown.  But it’s her song “I Still Believe In Santa Claus” that will hit our list of Top Songs of 2015, while earning a nomination for the Spirit Award’s Song of The Year and Spirit of Christmas award.  Other songs include “Christmas Time Is Here,” “The Heartache Can Wait,” and “A Little Drummer Boy.”  The album closes with one of the most compelling versions of “Auld Lang Syne” that we have ever heard.  Rimes’ version is quite haunting as it is performed in an a cappella style.  The best part of this album is the professionalism that Rimes’ brings to the project as she mixes her well tuned vocal stylings with that of the traditional mentality of country music.  Like many of her albums before this, she does give the listener a fresh new outlook on classic Christmas music.  This is a must have for any Christmas music collection! $$$$$

What A Wonderful World

LeAnn Rimes

2004 - Curb Records, Inc.  The last time we heard anything from LeAnn she was switch hitting between Country Music and Pop Music.  But that was then and this is now.  After taking sometime off to get married Rimes is back.  It as if she has rekindled her creative ability.  She is back with this new and unique of Christmas album to lead up to the 2005 release of her new album.  In the time that she took off, it’s as if she grew up.  LeAnn is an adult.  An adult who is ready to continue to make her mark on the music scene.  This album measures up to Lee Ann Womack’s.  Rimes has brought a new light to Christmas music.  Sure she re-recorded some of the all time classics.  Her rendition of “White Christmas” is a blues style mixed with her Patsy Cline vocals.  Rimes’s version of  “All I Want For Christmas” is that of pure perfection.  It’s this song that gives us the romantic feeling that we are seeking this Holiday season.  “Have yourself A Merry Little Christmas” is performed with pure heart and soul.  LeAnn rimes version is a beautiful masterpiece.  LeAnn Rimes includes a remake of an old classic.  A classic that we would never have believed to be included on a Christmas album.  “What A Wonderful World” is sure to be included on every Christmas music list from now on.  Rimes includes three new Christmas hits.  “A Different Kind A Christmas” is a beautiful song that portrays a feeling that some may have throughout the Christmas season.  The second new song is “Just Love Me.”  LeAnn extends her writing abilities in this new romantic sassy song. The third is “Miss You Like Christmas.”  This is another song that LeAnn co-wrote.  All in all LeAnn has grown up to become a beautiful and talented artist.  Her talents will certainly take her to Reba McEntire status and further.  This album is a testament to all the disbelievers of LeAnn Rimes making and keeping her mark in the music industry.  Share this one this Christmas with those who you love!
