The Album Collection

Elvis Presley

2016 - Legacy Recordings.  On the sixtieth anniversary of his first RCA recording sessions, Legacy Recordings releases this sixty cd box set. This is the first time that anyone has ever put together Elvis’s official and authentic albums as they were originally released.  Elvis first began at the legendary Sun Records in Memphis from 1954 and 1955.  This box set does include those recordings but it’s main features are the all the albums that Elvis recorded under RCA Victor.  His first album under the label was released on March 23, 1956, called Elvis.  Other albums included in this box set are Loving You, Elvis Christmas Album, Elvis’ Golden Records, King Creole, For LP Fans Only, A Date With Elvis, Elvis’ Golden Records Volume 2—50,000,0000 Elvis Fans Can’t Be Wrong, Elvis Is Back!, G.I. Blues, His Hand In Mine, Something For Everybody, Blue Hawaii, Pot Luck, Girls! Girls! Girls!, It Happened At The World’s Fair, Elvis’ Golden Records Volume 3, Fun In Acapulco, Kissin’ Cousins, Roustabout, Girl Happy, Elvis For Everyone, Harum Scarum, Frankie And Johnny, Paradise, Hawaiian Style, Spinout, How Great Thou Art, Double Trouble, Clambake, Elvis’ Gold Records Volume 4, Speedway, Elvis Sings Flaming Star, Elvis (NBC-TV Special), From Elvis In Memphis, From Memphis To Vegas / From Vegas To Memphis, Let’s Be Friends, On Stage, Almost In Love, That’s The Way It Is, Elvis Country (I’m 10,000 Years Old), Love Letters From Elvis, C’mon Everybody, I Got Lucky, Elvis Sings The Wonderful World of Christmas, Elvis Now, He Touched Me, Elvis: As Recorded At Madison Square Garden, Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite, Elvis (Fool), Raised On Rock, Good Times, Elvis: As Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis, Promised Land, Elvis Today, From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee and Moody Blue.  The assortment also includes three new and rare collections from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.  The box set does come with a hard cover book that talks about each of the albums in a precise manner.  Although the price of this box set might outweigh some fan’s budgets ($164.93 to $313.27 depending on where you purchase) it does bring to question—why more artists do not compile such a collection?  Think of entertainers like Johnny Cash, George Jones, Patsy Cline and Hank Williams… Sometimes box sets can be more costly, however, I do believe that this box set is well worth it. Especially if you are an Elvis Presley fan.  Elvis changed the face and sound of music in his time.  It is no wonder that he, in his creative genius, would be known to have a box set such as this. $$$$
