 2017 - Lee Roy Parnell.  It has been such a long time since we have heard anything from Lee Roy, that we almost forgot what style of music he is known for.  Mr. Parnell treats us with this ten-cut album filled with beautiful guitar riffs mixed with words of wisdom.  The album opens with, “Hours In Between,” a song that addresses the hours a musician keeps.  Lee Roy reminds us of the classic music of the 1980’s style with his song “Ponchatrain.”  Then he takes us on a joyous journey with “Hair Of The Dog.”  Other songs include “Some Time Ago,” “Tied Up And Tangled,” “Going Uptown,” and the title track.  Nonetheless, there are three songs worthy of your time and hard-earned money.  The first that we come upon is “Too Far Gone,” performed in a classic 1980’s style with memorable melody.  This one shares with the listener all of the emotions and events in dealing with a lover’s break up. Among the songs on this project, we pulled two to hit our list of Top Songs of 2018, while earning a nomination each for the Spirit Award’s Song of The Year Award.  The first we pulled is called “Want Watcha’ Have.”  Performed in with a lively melody that will get you up and moving, this one is mixed with lyrics that have the wisdom of wanting what you have and not wanting what you don’t have.  While this song will get you moving, it’s the next song that will grab and influence you.  Lee Roy gains the vocal help from The Fairfield Four in “Sunny Days.”  Performed in a passionate, heartfelt and simple melody; Lee Roy shares his insight on the positive and negative of daily life.  If you want to hear a perfect song in every way, then take a listen to this one.  As a music aficionado, I am so glad that we have entertainers like Lee Roy Parnell to keep their style alive with such wonderful projects filled with real music like this! $$$$
